Business Information Systems

Download of sample files available

Business Information Systems provides a comprehensive coverage of a range of information systems topics. The book is intended for an introductory course in Information Systems. Each topic has been covered in sufficient depth to enable the student to handle problems normally encountered in business, but works from a basis of no prior knowledge. This means that, of necessity, the book cannot go very deeply into any single topic; that is the place of a more detailed study of systems analysis, systems design, programming, data communications, systems implementation, project management and the many other areas that comprise this complex field. This book sets the scene, and acts as an introduction for each of these areas.

The book takes an approach of relating and illustrating theoretical issues through the use of practical examples using commonly available microcomputer software packages (Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access) to build and implement small systems. Use of the computer software is an important part of the course, and a sample files disk is included with the book.
